Some Day Soon Farm Mares
We would like you to meet a few of our treasured mares. Some were bought from other breeders in Germany and the US after careful searches. Others are very special offspring of our stallions. Many have been full time mothers, while some of our younger mares have established performance records. All have been carefully chosen for traits that we expect they will pass along to their babies — excellence in conformation, movement, trainability and temperament.
SPS Pik Dame (pictured below) was one of the grand old ladies of the farm. We lost her in the spring of 2002 at the ripe old age of twenty five. She was the ONLY states premium full sister to the well known stallions Pik Bube I and II. She presented us with numerous excellent foals, including the stallion prospect Willkommen Q by our stallion Weltbekannt. She was truly a treasure of the farm.

Elite Mare Whimsical (below), by Wertherson out of Jet Set by Jet Stream XX. Whimsical was the top scoring mare on the AHS inspection tour in 1995, scoring an incredible 8.17. Whimsical has already presented us with outstanding babies.

Elite Mare Graphitti (Grundstein I/ Annette/ Abundance) is a full sister to the AHS stallion Gold Luck. At right she displays her exemplary impulsion and suspension.

Lady L (below) won under saddle at Devon in 1991. In 1997 she became an Elite mare. She is shown above at a PVDA Breed Show in 1998, where she qualified for Devon and the USDF Championships there by winning Reserve Grand Champion. Lady L is by Leibniz out of SPS Biggy by Bolero, and was bred by Hermann Meyer of Germany. Her damline has produced eleven approved stallions, as well as the highly successful Grand Prix dressage competitors Leopold and Borsalino.

EM Berlina is shown below at Devon in 1998, where she won the Grand Champion of Devon and Grand Champion USDF. We took her to that show just as a lark. She had never before been to a recognized breed show, and she had just been weaned from her foal! She went on later that same year to win Grand Champion of the Mid-Atlantic Breeders Club Mare Show. EM Berlina is by Brentano II out of Hilly by Hill Hawk xx. She made straight 8's for rideability and all three gaits in her mare performance test.

Feiner Star (Feiner Graf/SPS Maxi/ Matula) was among the top scoring mares of the AHS tour in 2001 with a score of 7.66. Her first foal, by Anhaltiner E, was purchased by Phyliss Dawson (Seoul Olympics, Three Day Eventing) and was sold to Kim Severson who now competes him very successfully as Fantasy Impromptu. Feiner Star (below) was bred by Heinrich Ramsbrook, Germany.

EM Waverly (below) is a 16.2h 1997 dark brown mare by Weltbekannt out of Genial by Garibaldi II. She was High Score Mare for her Mare Performance Test with a 7.72.

Wruffian (in two pictures below) is a 2001 homebred mare (Weltbekannt / Fifth Avenue Q/ Wertherson). Wruffian was Reserve Grand Champion at the 2002 Mid Atlantic Hanoverian Breeders Mare Show. She is shown at left with owner / breeder Suzanne Quarles and with Paul Cohen. Lisa Reid is handling.

In fall 2003 Wruffian scored a 7.33 in her mare performance test. She is seen at above ridden by our trainer Fred Weber.
Fantine, another home grown mare from the farm (Wertherson/ SPS Rena/ Raphael) was Reserve Champion Young Mare at the 2002 MAHB mare show. She is shown below in this picture along with Wruffian, who was the Champion Young Mare.

In 2002, Fantine scored a 7.83 in her AHS mare inspection and a 7.83 in the MPT. Her combined scores were the third highest in the nation for mares doing both the inspection and MPT. She is shown below under saddle with Fred Weber, and in the free jumping portion of her test.

Next Time For Sure (Next Frontier xx/ Windy Union xx/ Osceola xx), is the only Thoroughbred mare left in the SDS breeding program. She is out of Windy Union xx, our first broodmare, a 1973 model that produced thirteen foals. Next Time was the non-Hanoverian mare champion at the 2001 Some Day Soon Farm AHS inspection. She received an 8 for elasticity and an overall 7.33, very unusual scores for a Thoroughbred mare at an inspection! Her 2002 gelding by Weltbekannt, Wellfleet, won several Training Level eventing competitions in 2009 and ended the season by winning the US National Championships! Next Time (below) is currently in foal to Soleil Q for a 2010 foal that will be 13/16 Thoroughbred. We’re hoping to find an eventing home for that one!
