We have imported a new stallion. Please visit Nocturno on his page.

November

We had had plans to show Weltbekannt twice this fall. Unfortunately a hurricane cancelled the October show. Weltbekannt did make it to the Morven Park dressage show in November, competing at FEI Intermediare II. He won both his classes, with one score of over 67%. As ever, Fred Weber showed Weltbekannt to his best advantage. We are so pleased to have Weltbekannt back in the show ring!

Above two pictures: Under his trainer Fred Weber, Weltbekannt's training is steadily progressing toward Grand Prix.

Wintermaske (Weltbekannt / Rubizza/ Rubinstein I) was shown at the Mid Atlantic Hanoverian Breeders Mare Show in November. She won all her classes — in hand and under saddle — and was given a 1a Premium award and named Grand Champion. Her new owner Patti Thompson, PA presented her under saddle. We are very proud of this fine Weltbekannt daughter, who was bred by Mary Lou Winn, Home Again Farm, out of the Oldenburg mare Rubizza (Rubinstein I/ Sendbote/ Darwin). Rubizza was imported by us in 1996, and has been bred to Weltbekannt with excellent results four times, with more breedings planned for the future.

October

We hosted an American Hanoverian Society inspection in October 2003. A highlight of our inspection was the mare performance test of our young mare Wruffian (Weltbekannt / Fifth Avenue Q/ Wertherson). She scored a 7.33 in her MPT.

March

Wintermaske (above), a 1998 daughter of Weltbekannt out of a Rubinstein I mare, showed eight times in Second Level Tests 3 and 4 in Florida between January and March 2003. She finished her show season with seven wins out of eight and scores in the 63-70% range. She also scored well in the FEI Five Year Old Young Horse test, making two scores that are high enough to qualify her for the regional qualifier. Her Second Level scores fulfilled her performance requirement for Elite Mare Candidate. Her owner Mary Lou Winn has bred Wintermaske via embryo transfer and Wintermaske will continue in training. Wintermaske is trained and shown by Maya Sniadecky.

November

Wruffian Q (above), a three year old filly by Weltbekannt out of EM Fifth Ave Q, by Wertherson, was the Champion Young Mare at the November 2nd Mid Atlantic Hanoverian Breeders show. She went on to be the Reserve Grand Champion over many, many good proven States Premium Mares. This was her first time away from the farm, her very first show and she showed amazing coolness and presence. We are very proud of her!

The Weltbekannt daughter Wintermaske MLW (above) won every class and Championship that she entered at the November 9–10 Sunshine Classic, which was a USDF/DSHB Breed Show Series Final held in Florida. Wintermaske, a four year old mare out of the Rubinstein I mare Rubizza, was named Mare Champion, Mature Horse Champion, Series Performance Grand Champion, Hanoverian High Score, among other titles. She is owned and was bred by Mary Lou Winn, Home Again Farm. Maya Sniadecky has trained her and shows her under saddle. Sterling Graburn is her in-hand handler.

September

Wintermaske (Weltbekannt/Rubinstein I) won her mare class, the Mare Championship, the Hanoverian class, and the Four Year Old Materiale Class at the Sunshine Sporthorse Association's September 14th Dressage Sporthorse Breed Show. Her scores ranged from 79.5 to 82 %.

August

Weltbekannt has ended this show season with a grand record. He won all of his Intermediare I classes, and ended up with a median score of 66.25. Now he will stay at home and learn to count his tempi changes. He is up to about nine onesies at a time. We hope to bring him out at Intermediare II next spring and aim for Grand Prix by the end of next season. See some new photos below that show his progress under saddle.

Under his trainer Fred Weber, Weltbekannt's training is steadily progressing toward Grand Prix.

Another Weltbekannt daughter Walkyria (out of Welzel's Aria by Wenzel) was the Hanoverian site Champion and had the high score in the Mare Performance Test at her inspection. She is owned by Tara Wright, NC.

Weltbekannt daughter Wintermaske, (out of Rubizza by Rubinstein I) was Mare Champion at a USDF/DSHB qualifier show held in north Florida August 17th. Mary Lou Winn, Home Again Farm, is her owner and breeder.

July

At the AHS inspection at Turning Point Farm in Livonia, MI, the Anhaltiner E daughter Adrianna (above) won the Mare Performance Test with a score of 7.44. Adrianna is out of the mare Expose and is owned by Terry Boyagian.

Many horses with close ties to Some Day Soon Farm were stand-outs at the July 25th Morven Park Breed Show.

Allison Q, above, an Anhaltiner E daughter was Reserve Champion Mare and Reserve Champion Mature Horse.

Luminous (above), owned and bred by Cathy Slaterbeck was Champion Colt/Gelding and Reserve Champion Young Horse. Luminous is by the SDS stallion Loerke out of Ex Libra, a mare by Ex Libris that we imported for Cathy in 1996. This show was his first big outing. His trip to trainer Lisa Reid, about a month before the show, was his first time out of the run-in shed at home. His composure was a happy surprise for his elated owner and breeder!

At the same show, a trio of yearling siblings bred by embryo transfer with close ties to the farm had sensational wins. The full siblings were bred by Gunnar Lund and his wife Betsy Smith. They are sired by Weltmeyer out of the Wertherson daughter Femme Fatale. Willow Rose was the Champion Filly, Young Horse Champion and Grand Champion of the show. Her full sister Winnetka was Reserve Champion filly, and her full brother Waldemar won the yearling colt/gelding class and was the Reserve Champion Colt/Gelding.

It was quite a show for horses connected to Some Day Soon Farm.

Weltbekannt Featured in The Chronicle of the Horse

Weltbekannt was featured in the July 12, 2002, issue of The Chronicle. The article by Lisa Campbell is quoted below:

Fred Weber and long-time partner Weltbekannt earned the high score at Intermediare I (70.50%) at VADA/NOVA Summer Dressage, June 22-23 at Morven Park in Leesburg, Va.

"Weltbekannt is very willing and very trainable," said Weber of the 10 year old dark bay stallion. "He's always placed in year-end awards, and he was (United States Dressage Federation) Horse of the Year at Third Level."

Owner Suzanne Quarles, of Mt. Airy, Md., bought the Hanoverian as a two year old in Germany, and Weber has been training him since then. "Next year we plan to show him at Intermediare II and Grand Prix," she said. "We keep showing him, and he breeds about 40 to 50 mares a year. He's one of the few stallions that can do both at the same time. We are beginning to see the first of his offspring at the shows."

Though Weber runs his own training operation, he has also been traveling to Quarles farm, Some Day Soon, to ride the stallions since 1989, when she purchased Wertherson.
