Nocturno is a 17 hand coal black Elite Hanoverian stallion by Natiello xx out of SPS Weira (Wenzel II / Gardekurassier). He was foaled in 1997, and was bred by Hans Heinrich Blume, Germany. He was imported in December 2003.

See examples of his offspring here.

Nocturno is a full brother to the 2001 Hanoverian licensing champion Nobleman. Nobleman also was the winner of the dressage portion of his 70 day test in 2001 and was subsequently sold to Denmark.

Nocturno offers a new bloodline to North American Hanoverian breeders. He has the elegance of his Thoroughbred father, along with a quick hindleg and powerful engine from his Hanoverian motherline. He has a wonderful, generous nature. He is proving his talent and rideabilty through dressage performance. In his first season of showing, during the spring and summer of 2004, Nocturno was very successful at Second Level dressage. He ended the year with a median score of 67.425, putting him 20th for Horse of the Year nationally and 5th for Hanoverians, while also maintaining a busy breeding season.

At his 100 day testing, Nocturno received scores of 9 from the training leader for character, constitution, temperament, and willingness to work . He received 8 in all three gaits and in rideability from his training leader, as well as an 8 in the canter from the guest rider. In the short time he has been with us, his willingness to work has proven to be well beyond outstanding.

Nocturno's full brother Nobleman was named the Champion stallion of the 2001 Hanoverian Stallion Licensing in Verden, Germany. The striking black stallion was bred by Hans Heinrich Blume, Germany, and was presented at the approval by Heinrich Giesselmann. After the licensing, Nobleman was sold at the open stallion sale to a Danish stallion station for what was then an almost unheard of price of 300,000 DM. This was the first time that the National State Stud of Celle had to bid amongst all others for top stallions. Nobleman is pictured under saddle in 2003 below.

Nocturno's sire Natiello xx (pictured above right) is a 1989 Thoroughbred stallion. He is medium framed, very well muscled, and has very correct conformation. He was the winner of the Cologne Thoroughbred Show in 1992. He has outstanding basic gaits, with an especially rhythmic and active walk and trot, and an exceptional hindleg activity, and very good rideability. He endows his offspring with a lot of type and expressiveness. His offspring are noted for very generous and easy temperaments.
